Accra | 5 September 2025 — The Petroleum Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to developing local technical capacity in the energy sector through a strategic engagement with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC). The meeting underscored GAEC’s pivotal role in advancing nuclear science applications and innovation to support Ghana’s sustainable energy growth.
The collaboration aims to deepen knowledge transfer, foster technical training, and enhance research capabilities, thereby strengthening the country’s energy value chain. GAEC’s expertise in nuclear technology and applied sciences provides a critical foundation for diversifying energy solutions and equipping Ghanaian professionals with world-class competencies.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Petroleum Commission to embed innovation and sustainability into the energy sector. Similar to its strategic partnerships with key national institutions, the Commission is leveraging collaboration to ensure that Ghana’s energy transformation is anchored in local capacity development.
By integrating GAEC’s advanced scientific knowledge with the Commission’s regulatory oversight and industry connections, the partnership establishes a robust framework for innovation-driven growth. This not only strengthens Ghana's national energy security but also positions the country to pursue a balanced mix of hydrocarbons, renewables, and nuclear applications in its long-term energy strategy.
The meeting reflects a shared vision: building a resilient and self-reliant energy sector powered by local expertise, innovative research, and sustainable development.
