Tor’s New Leadership Engages Key Stakeholders: Drives Innovation and Efficiency

Since assuming office, Dr. Yussif Sulemana, the new Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), has embarked on a series of engagements aimed at revitalizing the refinery. His leadership has prioritized collaboration, innovation, and operational efficiency, as demonstrated by recent high-level interactions with key stakeholders.

A familiarization tour with the leadership of the General Transport, Petroleum, and Chemical Workers Union (GTPCWU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) marked an important step in this journey. Led by its National Chairman, Mr. Bernard Owusu, the union representatives extended their congratulations to Dr. Sulemana and his deputy while reaffirming their commitment to supporting TOR’s resurgence. The meeting provided an avenue to discuss mutual concerns, align expectations, and reinforce a shared vision for the refinery’s sustainable future.

Beyond labor relations, TOR’s leadership has also prioritized technological advancement and academic collaboration. In a recent meeting, Dr. Sulemana and his team engaged the Provost and faculty members of the KNUST College of Engineering. The discussions centered on exploring industry challenges and fostering innovative solutions for sustainable energy. This strategic partnership signals TOR’s commitment to research-driven progress and cutting-edge practices in the oil refining sector.

As part of the refinery’s revitalization agenda, these engagements set the tone for a forward-looking approach—one that combines labor unity, technological innovation, and sustainable operational strategies. The momentum generated from these discussions is expected to translate into practical steps, including improved efficiency, workforce empowerment, and a stronger contribution to Ghana’s energy security.

With these foundational initiatives in place, Dr. Sulemana’s tenure promises to be defined by proactive leadership, stakeholder inclusivity, and a drive toward excellence at TOR.
