The Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Mr. Afetsi Awoonor, paid a working visit to the company’s Accra Plains Depot (APD) on Friday. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by BOST leadership to strengthen field operations, ensure effective asset utilization, and drive organizational cohesion from the ground up. Timed to coincide with an induction tour for newly recruited staff, the visit offered Mr. Awoonor an opportunity to assess firsthand the day-to-day functions of one of the company’s most strategic installations. The Accra Plains Depot is a major fuel storage and distribution hub, vital to the seamless movement of petroleum products across the country.

During the visit, Mr. Awoonor toured the facility and inspected ongoing operational and infrastructure projects. He engaged directly with staff working across different functions, observing protocols and work processes critical to the depot’s performance and safety standards. The visit also allowed management to receive feedback from frontline staff on challenges and opportunities in the field. Since taking office, Mr. Awoonor has prioritized visibility across BOST’s nationwide network, aiming to foster a sense of shared mission and accountability. The Accra Plains Depot visit builds on this strategy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to operational discipline and national service.

The Managing Director used the occasion to underscore the need for professionalism, technical excellence, and a culture of problem-solving across all levels of the organization. Staff at the depot were encouraged to remain focused on their responsibilities, especially in light of the depot’s crucial role in supporting Ghana’s fuel security and economic stability.

In addition to field operations, Mr. Awoonor reiterated his vision of a more collaborative and resilient energy supply chain. He has consistently advocated for deeper cooperation among state institutions, private sector actors, and regulatory bodies to optimize the performance of Ghana’s energy infrastructure.

As BOST continues its modernization drive, the company is also working to expand its storage capacity, improve efficiency across its distribution network, and minimize losses. Innovation remains a core component of this agenda, with emphasis placed on adopting new technologies, strengthening monitoring systems, and investing in workforce development.

Mr. Awoonor’s visit also served to welcome new recruits into the BOST family. The induction tour provided orientation on the company’s mandate, values, and expectations. It was also an opportunity to inspire a new generation of professionals committed to national service through the energy sector.
