Tokyo, Japan | 21 August 2025 — The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) is intensifying efforts to position Ghana as a leading energy and trade hub, rolling out strategic initiatives across Asia, the Middle East, and North America to attract investment and deepen global partnerships.

The PHDC recently launched the second edition of its “Let’s Go To Asia” initiative in Japan, building on its first edition in South Korea. The Japan mission showcased Ghana’s petroleum hub prospects to government agencies, private investors, and downstream players. With Asia’s growing demand for energy security and diversified supply chains, the initiative aims to forge stronger trade linkages and secure capital inflows into Ghana’s downstream infrastructure.

Momentum has steadily grown over the past six months as investor interest from multiple consortia in this vision gained traction, with most pledging support for Ghana’s petroleum hub vision, and on the heels of $300 Million MoU with Mannschaft Engineering. The consortia, comprising energy and infrastructure firms, see Ghana as a strategic gateway to West Africa’s energy and logistics markets. Their commitment signals rising confidence in Ghana’s potential to host Africa’s first integrated petroleum hub—a project designed to enhance refining capacity, boost petrochemical industries, and expand regional energy trade.

Beyond Asia and the Middle East, Ghana’s vision gained visibility at North America’s premier energy platform. At the Global Energy Show in Calgary, Canada, the PHDC presented investment-ready opportunities to global stakeholders. The showcase emphasized Ghana’s regulatory reforms, geographic advantage along the Gulf of Guinea, and the government’s commitment to creating a competitive, transparent energy ecosystem. International partners were invited to participate in upstream, midstream, and downstream ventures under the hub framework.

Collectively, these engagements highlight Ghana’s proactive diplomacy in advancing its petroleum hub agenda. By leveraging global platforms and cultivating strategic partnerships, the PHDC is broadening investor confidence and accelerating the nation’s ambition of becoming a regional powerhouse for energy and trade.

With initiatives stretching from Tokyo to Dubai and Calgary, the Corporation is proving that Ghana’s petroleum hub is not just a domestic aspiration but a global proposition—one that promises transformative benefits for the economy, industry, and regional integration.
