Takoradi | 2 September 2025 — The Board of Directors of GOIL Company PLC continued its nationwide onboarding and familiarization tour with an inspection of the company’s Takoradi operations, the company said. The visit included the GOIL Aviation Depot at Takoradi Airport, the Marine Gas Oil (MGO) Tank Farm at Takoradi Harbour, the Sekondi Naval Base and the Takoradi Zonal Depot.

The visit focused on assessing infrastructure, reviewing safety standards, and evaluating expansion opportunities in one of GOIL’s key operational hubs. Board members engaged directly with site managers and technical teams to better understand current challenges and opportunities, ensuring that decisions at the corporate level remain closely aligned with on-the-ground realities.

The Takoradi tour forms part of a broader strategy of regular oversight and familiarization. Recently, the board also visited GOIL’s Tema operations, signaling a deliberate approach to strengthening governance, accountability, and operational excellence across the company’s nationwide footprint. At the MGO Tank Farm, GOIL officials said the facility supports bunkering and marine supply operations and has a storage capacity of about 13.5 million litres, underscoring the depot’s role in supporting offshore and maritime activity in the Western Region.

GOIL officials said the Takoradi visit formed part of a broader programme to align the company’s operations and planned expansions with international standards on safety, environmental management and efficiency. Board members highlighted the importance of continued investment in infrastructure and technology, pointing out that such improvements are critical if the company is to meet Ghana’s rising energy demand and maintain reliability across its supply chain. They added that lessons drawn from engagements at depots and fuel terminals would feed into future strategy and project planning.

The board described the oversight tour as an opportunity to strengthen transparency and to assess facilities first-hand rather than relying solely on reports. According to company representatives, direct interaction with site managers and technical staff provides a clearer picture of operational challenges and opportunities. Industry observers note that this approach is consistent with a wider trend among African energy firms seeking to demonstrate accountability and responsiveness to stakeholders, underscoring GOIL’s continuing role in Ghana’s petroleum sector and its contribution to the national economy.
