Ghana Hosts 7th APPO NOCs CEOs Forum to Drive Collective Energy Vision
Accra | 15 September 2025 - Ghana has hosted the 7th African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) National Oil Companies (NOCs) CEOs Forum in Accra, a high-level event uniting leaders of the continent’s state-owned oil companies. The forum, officially hosted by GNPC, convened executives and policymakers from APPO’s 18 member states to deliberate on the future of Africa’s petroleum industry.
Opening the meeting, Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, urged participants to deepen collaboration to ensure Africa maximises the value of its hydrocarbon resources. In his remarks, Jinapor stressed that Africa must leverage its petroleum wealth for industrialisation, job creation, and sustainable growth while preparing for the challenges of the global energy transition.
At the Accra Forum, discussions focused on three main themes: enhancing technological innovation in exploration and refining, aligning regulations across member states to attract investment, and integrating sustainability into petroleum sector strategies. GNPC underscored that the event was a timely platform for dialogue as global energy dynamics continue to evolve.
For Ghana, hosting the Forum reinforced its ambition to serve as a regional hub for petroleum dialogue and innovation. With initiatives such as the proposed Petroleum Hub in the Jomoro District, the country is seeking to position itself at the center of Africa’s energy cooperation and industrial growth.
As the Forum concluded, delegates reaffirmed APPO’s role as a unifying voice for African producers. For Ghana, the meeting not only marked a diplomatic success but also demonstrated its capacity to influence the continent’s petroleum agenda at a critical moment for the industry.
