A New Chapter: GNPC and Petroleum Commission Forge Strategic Partnership
Accra, Ghana | 18 August 2025 - The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Petroleum Commission (PC) have entered into a Promotion, Marketing, and Revenue Sharing Agreement to strengthen collaboration and unlock new opportunities in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector. Signed at GNPC’s Training Centre, the agreement centers on the Reconnaissance License data from the Voltaian Basin Project, positioning Ghana to accelerate exploration while deepening institutional synergy.
This landmark accord builds on GNPC’s momentum in advancing upstream development. The Corporation and its partners have recently declared commerciality for the Eban-Akoma discoveries, underscoring Ghana’s growing petroleum potential and strengthening investor confidence in the sector’s long-term viability.
Beyond exploration and production, GNPC is reinforcing its social mandate. Together with Jubilee-TEN partners, the Corporation has expanded community engagement programs into Central Region’s coastal areas, broadening initiatives in education, livelihood empowerment, and local development. These community-centered strategies ensure that petroleum-driven growth translates into tangible benefits for Ghanaians.
The GNPC – PC partnership signals a new phase of industry cooperation, linking technical expertise, regulatory oversight, and commercial strategies to maximize national value. By aligning basin exploration, proven discoveries, and community participation, Ghana is charting a sustainable path for its upstream sector while reinforcing its role as a competitive energy hub in West Africa
