Ghana Gas CEO Engages Key Off-Takers in Tema to Boost Industrial Gas Supply

Tema, Ghana | June 30, 2025 – The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, has paid a working visit to major gas off-takers in Tema as part of efforts to strengthen industrial gas supply and support Ghana’s broader industrial transformation agenda.

During the one-day visit, Ms. Blay held high-level meetings with executives of Fujian Sentuo Ceramic Tile Company Limited, Continental Blue Investment Ghana Limited, the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), and Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited.

Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation, improving gas transportation networks, and boosting operational efficiency to meet the energy demands of Ghana’s growing industrial base. The Ghana Gas CEO also met with Sentuo Group Chairman, Mr. Ningquan Xu, where she reiterated Ghana Gas’ strategic role in supporting downstream refining operations.

Ms. Blay reaffirmed the company’s collaboration with the Volta River Authority (VRA), emphasizing their joint efforts in securing reliable power generation for national development.

This visit builds on Ghana Gas’s ongoing shift toward industrial gas use, in line with the government’s 24-hour economy agenda. A major component of this pivot is the construction of a second gas processing plant (GPP II) at Atuabo, which recently received Cabinet approval. The $700 million project is expected to raise national gas processing capacity to 450 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd), generate over 1,000 jobs, and save Ghana an estimated US $500 million every two years in avoided liquid fuel imports.

The Ministry of Finance has described GPP II as a strategic priority, with the potential to significantly reduce Ghana’s reliance on imported fuels while enhancing energy security.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Tema Regulating and Metering Station (TRMS), where Ms. Blay commended the staff for their dedication and professionalism. She acknowledged the station’s critical role in maintaining gas flow stability to industrial clients across the region.
